The Gastric Bypass Surgery, also known as the Roux-En-Y gastric bypass, is considered the “gold standard” of weight loss surgery. Is a bariatric procedure that helps you lose weight by changing how your stomach and small intestine handle the food you eat.

The Gastric Sleeve Surgery, also known as Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), is a surgical weight-loss procedure in which the stomach is reduced to about 15% of its original size, by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach along the greater curvature.

The new, smaller stomach is about the size of a banana. It limits the amount of food you can eat by making you feel full after eating small amounts of food. Sleeve Gastrectomy is quickly becoming a standard in bariatrics.

The Gastric Banding, known commonly by the implant brand names Lap-Band System, is a restrictive weight loss procedure involving a band around the upper part of your stomach to create a small pouch to hold food. The band limits the amount of food you can eat by making you feel full after eating small amounts of food. After surgery, your doctor can adjust the band to make food pass more slowly or quickly through your stomach.

The Gastric Balloon or Intragastric Balloon is an inflatable medical device that is temporarily placed into the stomach to reduce weight. It is marketed to provide a weight loss option in selected patients when diet and exercise have failed and surgery is not wanted or not recommended.

Revision Bariatric Surgery – sometimes known as revisional surgery – refers to a weight loss treatment that follows a previous weight loss surgery that did not lead to the desired level of success.

Sometimes a weight loss procedure will not lead to as much weight loss as the surgeon and patient hope for. In other situations, a patient will lose the weight but later regains some or all of that weight. If this has happened to you, you should not feel ashamed or consider this a personal failure. On the contrary, this is the time to contact an expert in revisional treatment.
