Holbox island is located a the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, in southeastern Mexico, forms part of the Maya World, along with the states of Campeche, Chiapas and Yucatan. Quintana Roo is best known in the tourism world as the Mexican Caribbean. The main beach destinations of Mexico are here: Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum are sites that are known all over the world and visitors come from almost every corner of the planet.
The waterhole which gives its name to the island is very deep and full of vegetation, so it seems that its waters are dark, but they are clean, clear and transparent, since they come directly from the depths of the earth. The residents believe that its water has healing properties for the human body.
