Pasamos una semana inolvidable. Excellence!!!. Estamos muy agradecidos con todo el staff y disfrutamos plenamente de las instalaciones. La atención, servicio y eficiencia del personal en todos sus ámbitos es de lujo. Entre otros, destacamos la labor de Floriciel en el bar de la playa (Perfectooooooo!!), Tona Thiu en The Grill (un encanto), Felipe en el Lobster House, Carlos en el Spice (que nos trató como mieleros de la nobleza), Víctor y Diego (dos maestros bartenders), Ulises del Barcelona, Rigoberto del Toscana, Rousell del Agave y la atención personalizada de Luisa en reiteradas oportunidades. Además, un saludo especial a Miguel que mantenía nuestro bellísimo cuarto impecable siempre y a los chicos de recreación, Edel y Alonso (especialmente los chistes argentinos de Alonso). No nos importa cualquier otro ranking...SON LOS MEJORES DE MEXICO LEJOS!! Desde Argentina un gracias infinito por tanto placer y lujoso servicio. Ya empezamos a ahorrar para volver a otra semanita de Nirvana, porque existe el paraíso y está en este hotel. Santiago y Patricia.

Beautiful resort and wonderful experience for our honeymoon. Perfect location on the beach with calm waters and soft sand. About 35 min ride from airport. Rooms were cleaned multiple times a day and very spacious. Staff was very friendly - great experience from check in to check out and everyone we encountered in between.

This is an amazing resort. Facilities are impeccable. Staff is exceptional. Food is spectacular (the all inclusive does not take away at all from the quality of the food and drink). This is not a Cancun party hotel. Quiet and relaxing. We never ran into loud people or overly intoxicated guests. Wish we had stayed longer so we could try out all the dining options. Too many good places to eat in the five nights we are here.

The resort is absolutely amazing. We have been to Secrets resorts and have thought they were the best you could get, however, thos place proved us wrong. The rooms are bigger (the big showers are very nice), nicer, more food choices, the staff has been wonderful. Hugo at the main bar in the front is super nice and an amazing mixer. The pools are much bigger, and there are beach front food buffet that is themed daily. So many food options really. Our stay has been wonderful and we will be back. Amazing resort.

Fantastic resort, probably the best in all of Mexico Staff is wonderful, resort is the perfect size, food is good, and attention to detail is "Disney" like. Recommend the "club" level as you have access to two private pools, better amenities, and the best part of the beach. Nearly knocked it down a star as there is construction at the property with no notice or cost consideration. Rooms also tend to be a bit warm and stay humid. However, this is truly a magical place and I love to unwind here! You owe it to yourself to vacation here.

We were there in November for an all ladies trip, in honor two milestone birthdays. The service, food and overall experience was exceptional. The SPA was a must do experience. It is a hotel that is on the quieter side, including the pool, but they had some music certain days, usually very mellow. Its a hotel for relaxation, though they do have a DJ at the sports bar after 10pm. Beautiful, top of the line hotel. Update May 2017: so beautiful I am going back, this time with a couples group vs all girls birthday getaway. Love this place!

We are having a great time. The grounds are amazing and the staff is very attentive. The beach is better than some in cancun. The resort was great, rooms clean mini bar was actually our own full sized bar in the room. Excellence club upgrade was totally worth it with beach service, and refreshments handed out while enjoying the breath taking beach views. our biggest issue was dinning with our group we were misled a few times with reservations, sometimes the hostess would get a bit short with us or the front desk staff would tell us the wrong thing. It all worked out but we did have a group of 30 people and we all tipped very well despite the fact that gratuities were included in our package. The dinner organization could have been better. but overall this place is AMAZING, FUN, AFFORDABLE AND MEMORABLE

This resort is great. The 3rd party company we booked it through went out it business and so our reservation was cancelled. The staff here was able to accommodate us even though the resort was at near 100% capacity. There room is great. The toilet is a bit weird though, not a lot of privacy. The food is good. The pools, beach, and staff are amazing.

To be honest I would rate this 4.5 stars out of 5. It was amazing, but there was a mishap at the beginning of the trip that kind of left my husband and I stranded at the airport for an hour with no good way to communicate with anyone. We booked a 2 story rooftop terrace with pool for 11 nights, and the imperial suite for an extra 2 nights for our wedding. We were supposed to get picked up from the airport as part of the imperial suite cost, and they never showed! Some driver service lent us his phone so we could call EPM, and we ended up paying for the ride to EPM, plus tip it was about 100 dollars. EPM offered us a 50 dollar credit to use on resort. This was irritating because the ride itself was 75 dollars, AND we had to go back and forth for 2 days to get it. My husband also cut his foot on a rogue tile in the aqua wellness pool before our Humanity Ceremony for 2. This made it difficult for him to enjoy our 600 dollar treatment, and nothing could really be done for this. Also, there were a lot of gnats and spiders in the imperial suite. We couldnt eat any of the fruit or treats that were brought to the room, which was a shame because one of the nights we got macarons, which we got in the rooftop terrace, and they were amazing.Besides that, everything else was pretty amazing. Nelson made accommodations for my wedding party to eat together in Chez Isabelle, even though I know we were being a little bit of a pain. He worked very hard to get us seated quickly and together. Ceaser was out bar tender for an hour in the imperial suite, which was a ton of fun. Mariana ensured our wedding went down smoothly. It was so beautiful and amazing. The food here was mostly good, there was only one night we werent impressed, and that was at Chez Isabelle. We ended up eating there 2 more times because thats where we ended up meeting various people in our party, and the other times the food was excellent. We didnt get to try everything, but what we did eat we enjoyed. Basmati was my favorite restaurant, ordered extra spicy curry, and it came out extra spicy. My husband and I would definitely come back here, but we will be trying other resorts first, to see how they compare! I feel like it is important to say that I have read other reviewers say that tipping is expected, and I disagree. We tipped for exceptional service, and even when we didnt tip we still received great service.

We went here for our honeymoon and it was pretty nice except for the fact that we got food poisoning our second night there and we spent our honeymoon in our bathroom or by the pool very close to the bathrooms. No we did not drink the water. My husband and I both ate the chicken at the French restaurant and were both sick afterward. Completely ruining our trip. Also the beach was not very clean.

If it is action, the pool bar is a happening place during the day. The landscaping is just beautiful, they have the best grounds keepers that we have experienced. it is well worth your trip to stay at an Excellence resort. They are the best at what they do.

Stayed here August-Sept. 2016. Indeed, as many others have mentioned, it is an "Excelente" resort! Was most pleased and would return in a heartbeat. PROS: * Many locations to choose from if you want total peace & quiet (i.e. lazy rivers, quiet pools), or prefer to be close to where the entertainment and games are. You could also reserve the extra cost "Excellence Club" rooms, with reserved private beaches and pools, enhanced amenities & in-room liquor selection, and private lounge for EC guests. Your choice * Live Music afternoons by the pool swim-up bar, also live music in many dining locations, evenings * 9 Restaurants means many, many choices, and all were very good to excellent. My favorites were the "Agave," "Chez Isabelle" and "Flavor Market" For breakfast you can choose the "Aroma" Coffee Shop, the buffet at "Toscana" or a la carte dining at the "Lobster House" * Most restaurants are a la carte, only * NO dining reservations required * NO bothersome bracelets to wear * Very friendly & amiable staff, many who really go out of their way for you * Coffee Shop (yes, included) open from 7:00 AM until 10:00 PM daily, with extensive choices of coffees, teas, pastries, wraps, salads, sandwiches. Great for your early morning coffee fix! * Junior Suites are spacious, 750 sq. feet, with ample balcony with bed, and an enclosed jacuzzi * Spacious showers, with both European-style and Rain showerheads * Not a huge resort where golf carts are a must, very walkable for most people * Many fun activities available day and evenings, i.e. Bike Rides, Tennis Clinics, Paella Demonstration, Bingo, etc. No need to leave the resort evenings * Spa is pricey but world-class, the hydrotherapy alone is worth it * Full-sized, 750 ml bottles of liquor and wine provided even in standard rooms CONS: * Architectural design flaw in rooms, you can clearly hear "bathroom noises" from anywhere in the room. No bathroom door, and the toilet door is a mostly-opaque glass door open at top and bottom. If this is a problem, bring earplugs or stay elsewhere. Not much bathroom nor shower privacy either, if you are travelling as friends, but concierge can arrange for maintenance to install "privacy screens" which are these painted sheets of plywood. * Theatre has columns which block view, not air conditioned * Strictly a couples resort. Not recommended for action-loving singles. * A bit far from the Hotel Zone, a $30 taxi ride each way

Seems to be a hidden gem of a place among all the other resort giants. I admit i was hesitant to book this place because NOBODY i knew had gone to an excellence resort. We went here on our honeymoon and ever since then, we have been aching to go back. Pros: - awesome accommodations and updated rooms. - lots of food places to choose from everyday - fantastic brunch - quiet beach, easy to find a chair, easy to find a drink - our room was ground floor swim up to the lazy river. couldnt recommend more. - we only had one meal that was "meh" and that was the tapas place. Make sure to make a reservation to the japanese place because people line up in the morning to reserve their spot We also didnt get to try out the Spa, plan that right when you arrive for 50% discount. - bartenders are all fun and really know how to make a proper drink. nothing was watered down or crappy. - price is on the lower end - NOT crowded at all. not really a huge party place either. come here to relax - tons of daily events scheduled like volleyball, bike riding, cooking classes, poker, trivia.. etc. Cons: - kind of far from the airport BUT we just got limo service for $200 total (there and back) and it was worth it. - far from town. Not really a con for us since we stayed in the resort.

We just came back from a 6 night stay at the Excellence Playa Mujeres. While EPM is a decent resort, there are too many things that totally ruin the experience, such that I would never return to this resort. There are many positive reviews on EPM (which I now find shocking), but, as a frequent business traveler with fairly high expectations for the almost $5K I paid for 6 nights (not including airfare), I was extremely disappointed. EPM is an OK resort to go when you are paying $2K-3K for 2 people for 6 nights and do not mind waiting a long time each night to get a table for dinner, but at $5K, EPM is a disaster with awful service and not even close to being worth the cost. The service at EPM is what totally ruins the experience and your ability to relax - it simply lacks basic thought and care from the staff. I would not consider going back to EPM again and suggest that others think twice about going, though it is somewhat based on the cost. Please see my more detailed review on Tripadvisor.
