The Rusty Hook Fishing Charter

Owner Jorge is passionate about fishing. He comes from a commercial fishing family and has worked in Playa del Carmen in the diving and fishing industry for many years. However after spending five years living and fishing (as a hobby) in England, he has decided to return to his native Mexico. The Rusty Hook offers a truly bilingual service in Spanish and English.

“Book today! Went on a fishing trip (with a little snorkeling) with my husband and 3 kids 3-9. Awesome day. Let us try a little of everything and focused on the kids. In addition to red snapper, we caught a bunch of trigger fish the Captain Jorge made into amazing cerviche with the best guacamole for lunch. The crew obviously knew what they were doing and was able to cater to what we wanted to do while also pointing us in the right direction based on what was biting, Kids really wanted to see a turtle one of the guys dove in and feed in areas he knew would bring out the turtles.”

“Booking was easy, communication a breeze. We took our trip in late March 2017. The directions we were emailed were simple and concise. We were met on the beach by Jorge, Carlos and Charlie. They were very attentive and ask what type of fishing we would like to do for the day. We ask what we would have the best chance of catching and decided to troll for a few hours and see what happens. The Marlin and tuna were not biting but we did see a sailfish. We decided to do a little bottom fishing for red snapper and had great ceviche on the boat with the success of catching a few. We decided to do some snorkeling after lunch and was able to see stingrays and a few turtles. The water was crystal clear and not very deep. Lots of fish on the reef. On the way back we decided to troll for triggerfish. After catching about a dozen we decided it was time to head in. I would definitely recommend this boat and crew!”
