Guacamundo - Lifestyle Hostel

Excellent and completely amazing, Guacamundo Hostal is located in calle 1 sur between quinta avenida and avenida 10. Incredibly you just have to walk some steps to enjoy the most beautiful beach in the world. In these surroundings you will find restaurants, bars, conveniece stores and all the necessary to spend the best vacations in Playa del Carmen. Guacamundo is only 2 minutes away from the speed cruise to cross to the beautiful Island of Cozumel, at the same time it is only 50 Meters away from the bus station (ADO). All private and shared rooms are fully furnitured with a vintage-classy Mexican decoration that you will fall in love with.

Guacamundo surpassed all of my expectations! It’s not just a hostel as much as it is a place to really unwind after a long day in Playa del Carmen. I met the nicest people and the staff was just great. I strongly recommend this hostel since it’s the best one I have been in so far, and I travel a lot! By the way, if you’re lucky enough to stay in the hostel for a full weekend, enjoy the big fat burrito weekend, they’re just delicious with the guacamole.

I hope this review helps travelers and backpackers to make the right choice. This hostel is the best hostel ever. The quality of the service, the facilities and the food are priceless. The friendliness of the staff was exceptional and the common area… OMG! So spacious and well lit. This was my third time in Playa del Carmen and the second time in a hostel, I recommend Guacamundo especially if your budget is tight and your expectations high :)

Excellent location seconds walk to the beach, the bus station. A couple of steps to the main street where all the bars are. Really loved the ambiance, the common area and the food. Easy to meet other backpackers. Everywhere is very clean, bathrooms and dorms. Individual lockers in your room for free. I wanted to dive in Cozumel and the receptionist where very helpful. We ended up heading to Tulum and then returning to stay in Guacamundo in Playa del carmen for longer because we liked it so much. The best hostel in Mexico.

In all honesty, I arrived to this hostel by accident. I had no idea what I was going to find or how it was going to be. It has been, so far, the best hostel I’ve ever seen in my life. They have a huge area for lounging where you get to chit chat with other people and eat. The staff girls are not just pretty, they are very helpful and kind. After my trip through Belize and Guatemala, finding this place was the right way to end my trip in Playa del Carmen. I will return to Mexico and I will return to this hostel.

The beach in Playa del Carmen was not good because of the seaweed season, but the hostel was an excellent place to return to after a long day in the bars drinking cerveza and talking to the senoritas. Clean place, nice showers and friendly staff. I give this hostel five stars.

Guacafe is bar-cafeteria that opens daily with an excellent menu. There is also a TV room with sofas, foosball, ping-pong, board games and cards. In addition, this hostel offers bicycle rental and provides free high-speed WiFi connection.
