This is probably one of the local’s favorite sports bar. They have, believe it or not, 13 TVs and one giant screen where you can watch your game of choice. You can check out online which sporting events they are screening and they also have a billiard table. The bar is located on the 16th street, between the Avenues 10 and 15.
If you want to watch your game enjoying a tasty burger in a fun atmosphere, this is your place to be. In the outside seating area it’s more about the party. But inside you can watch just about anything that can be called sport, with main focus on US events, and even bet on the sports that are shown. Tequila Barrel is only a few walking minutes from Hotel Playa Palms, right on the 5th Avenue, between 10th and 12th street.
Playa del Carmen’s touristic main strip runs about 5 km (3 miles) parallel to the ocean. You will find shoppings malls, restaurants, numerous stores that sell everything from cigars to sandals, hotels, bars, Mayan dancers, fire breathers…
The 12th street is where Playa del Carmen’s night life happens, its highlight the famous Coco Bongo Disco & Show. Between the beach and 10th Avenue you find all sorts of bars and clubs, from Blue Parrot’s beachfront club to the Salsanera, with the typical Mexican sounds of Salsa and Cumbia.
One of the most famous and best restored Maya sites, it’s also one of the seven world wonders. At the spring and autumn equinoxes the morning and afternoon sun produces a spectacular illusion of a snake slithering among the steps of the pyramid. But no matter what day of the year, its pyramids and temples will surely take your breath away.
Among the peninsula’s most picturesque and popular Mayan sites, the pyramid of Nohoch-Mul peaks dramatically out of the jungle. You can even climb the 120 steep steps to the top. Use a bike or a rickshaw to between the ancient buildings and cool off in the cenote.
This nature preserve is the longest partially flooded cave in the Yucatan peninsula. Since Rio Secreto is only partially flooded, visitors are able to hike, swim and snorkel throughout the publicly accessible areas of the cave system and view their majestic interiors.
The natural park is focused on Mexican culture and has a lot to do and see. Like a beautiful Mayan cemetery, many animals, an indoor-aquarium, or a hacienda. Take a break at the all you can eat buffets and make sure you don’t miss the epic show!
This aquatic themed natural park offers all kinds of fun activities: swim in cenotes, snorkel among colorful fishes, get your adrenaline pumped on zip-lines, discover native animals and plants or just relax in a beautiful lagoon or at one of the restaurants and bars.
Spend an adventurous day with high energy activities such as zip-lining over the jungle, driving an amphibious vehicle on off road trails, or cave rafting on subterranean rivers. Still your hunger afterwards at the all you can eat buffet.
In the Riviera Maya there is no place alike. 1986 Sian Ka’an was declared World Heritage by the UNESCO. It contains tropical forests, mangroves and a large marine section with a coral reef and is home to an exceptional diversity of species; like jaguars, pumas, tapirs, dolphins, crocodiles and over 300 species of birds.
Once you leave the tourist area behind, you discover a genuine paradise. Dive and snorkel in one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world, swim in crystal clear water or just discover the island on a rented scooter or jeep. Insider’s tip: Marvel at the many starfish at Playa el Cielo – which traduces to “heaven” for a reason.
The small town is famous for its beautiful beach in a protected bay and lagoons. Its abundant marine life ensures a unique snorkel experience – swim in the coral reef among turtles, sting rays and colorful fishes!

Argy KofidouThe best hotel we stayed at in Mexico. Beach front room on the first floor with a private terrace and hammock. I loved lying in bed listening to the waves and the breakfast served in our terrace in the morning.

Harshpreet WaliaNot all their rooms have views.. even though you pay for "ocean view" room. The breakfast at the balcony is good. The location of the hotel is good. However, we found issues with mosquitos in the room.. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Francisco AlvarezGreat location. No parking so we had to park in a side street however valets at hotels are telling us to be careful and then asking for money to "keep an eye on the car" . Certainly a scam and made us on edge for parking there. Continental breakfast was included which was nice.

Paul GeyenThe place is awesome. The location is right on the beautiful Caribbean and right in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. It is a very close to everything so you can walk to any of the many great restaurants in town and grocery stores. Lots of cool beach bars within 5 minute walk of the place. The staff is very helpful and nice. The hotel is very clean inside and out. We love the place and are coming back.

Bill PategasWe have been going to Playa Palms, for the last several years & it only keeps getting, better. The views are incredible. The location right on the beach could not be any better. Also, the location to all the restaurants, Fifth Avenue cannot be beat. The Staff is very accommodating, the grounds are well kept & rooms are very clean..I would highly recommend it for both couples & families.

Reinier van DantzigVery charming apartment right on the beach, with excellent service. The advantage of this complex is that it is smaller than the complex next door, giving it a more cosy feel. Our room was very clean and with a very comfy bed. A really good place!! Especially if you want to stay right on the beach with your feet in the sand.

Pamela BrownOne of the improvements since the last time I visited Playa Palms is the installation of noise proof windows and sliding glass doors. We were able to sleep through the night, even with the bar scene going on till 4 a.m! Much appreciated!
