When we first decided we wanted to do a TTD shoot, we started looking at galleries of photographers in the area to find one that spoke to us. There were a couple that we really liked to be honest. Amanda sent emails to both companies inquiring about the shoot, explaining her limitations in swimming. She asked about how it would work and if they would recommend we just forget it. The one company emailed back a quick 2 sentence response with a “yeah it will be fine, please refer to our quotes attached” kind of response. Del Sol’s response came from Polly, if I were to print it out it would have literally been on 3 pages! She outlined the entire process for us, gave links to other shoots they had done where one of the ‘models’ couldn’t swim to give us examples. She advised going to the pool and practicing going underwater and gave us some techniques to try. Del Sol’s response was 100% personalized to us and our questions. It was not some standard email template they just send out to everyone. We were so impressed and happy that she took that time to put us at ease and make us comfortable with the decision, that we just knew that this was exactly the kind of person that we wanted!” Polly and her team were amazing right from the start! Arube was always right close by, which helped make us feel safe in those couple moments when Amanda went a little deeper than she meant to. We loved watching all of the techniques that they used to get the perfect shot, like incense smoke to highlight the sun rays! So cool! They kept the day fun and were so encouraging that we were set up for success from the start!

As soon as we decided on Playa Del Carmen we knew we wanted Del Sol based on the beautiful pictures we had seen online. After we decided on doing a weird sci-fi wedding we knew we had to have Del Sol, because we didn’t trust anyone else to help us figure out how to make it look cool and not kitschy! Polly and her assistant really took their time to get the right shot! It was so great to have such an enthusiastic photographer!

My top destination PROPOSAL advice is call the Del Sol team! They’re so fun and have the best ideas! Don’t be afraid to do something different. It doesn’t have to be a mermaid proposal per-say, (haha), but make sure its something that she knows you worked hard to make special for her. Del Sol Photography was the first vendor we contracted. Yes, even before the venue. Sam knew by looking at photos online that they were the style of photography that she wanted to represent our lasting wedding memories. Preplanning with their team was fantastic! They were quick to respond to emails and the phone call to talk through all details right before the wedding was so beneficial. It was during that phone call Sam decided to add a videographer. That was undoubtedly one of the best wedding decisions we made. While onsite the team was superb! They were professional and discreet as most times we didn’t even realizing they were taking pictures. They captured beautiful impromptu moments and gorgeous arranged portraits. The post production was well worth the wait as the composition, coloring, edits, and all the other magic they worked turned our photos and video into pieces of cherished art.
